  Mission Statement & Guild Charter

Mission Statement

Disposable Heroes is dedicated to several ideals:

• Fun & Helpful: Form a friendly, well-informed, mature, helpful, and fun community, in a manner that we are recognized by the Dungeons & Dragons Online community as such.

• Skilled Play: Explore and conquer all available content in a variety of ways utilizing different strategies, tactics, and techniques.

• Low Drama: Be able to deal with your interpersonal problems like a responsible adult. If you can't talk out your problem with the other party, contact an officer and they will try to mediate the issue to the best of their abilities. If the issue can be handled in private, please attempt to do so. Failure to deal with an issue responsibly may result in disciplinary action.

• Casual: Enjoy the game at our own pace and enjoy everything it has to offer while remembering that Real Life always comes first.

• Family Atmosphere: While some profane language may be tolerated; excessive, persistant, or offensive dialogue is not allowed. No matter which form of conversation you are undertaking, you are to be aware of what is acceptable to your audience. As a general rule, keep it PG-13.

Guild Charter

The Pursuit of Fun
1. Each member retains the right to their personal definition of fun.
2. Each member retains the right to pursue fulfillment of their definition of fun (to all reasonable lengths) provided it does not violate the policies, charter, or purpose of Disposable Heroes.

Other Guild Memberships
Membership in other guilds is allowed by Disposable Heroes for both officers and members alike. Bringing all of your characters into the guild is preferred however, because it makes contacting each other easier to accomplish. However officers are not allowed to be officers of another guild.

Zero Tolerance Policy
Any violation of Turbine's EULA or Terms of Service will result in immediate disciplinary action as the discretion of guild leadership.
The same applies to blatant misuse of this website or the DDO Forums.

To All Members:

Expectations
We expect members to treat each other with respect.
We expect members to read the guild message boards.
We expect members to tell us what goals they wish to achieve.
We expect members to help with each other's goals.

Inactivity
While DH does not track or require hours logged, characters that remain completely inactive for 6 months or longer may be removed. Players can keep in touch or leave special notice about their time away to avoid having their characters removed.
If your characters are ejected from the guild due to inactivity, you can contact a current DH member to get reinvited when you return.

Recruiting
Recruiting is done on an ad-hoc/referral basis. When members find a skilled player who exhibits the DH values, an officer can then be asked to add the player. All members are encouraged to try to group with new players, to make them feel welcome, and be on the lookout for potential recruits that exemplify the ideals outlined in the Mission Statement. New recruits will be reviewed after a period of 30 and 90 days and then if deemed to have committed actions contrary to this charter may be removed from the guild upon discussion by the officers.

Allied Guilds
Disposable Heroes will ally themselves with other guilds to help members gain groups for quest and raiding. ALL ALLIED GUILD MEMBERS will be treated as members of Disposable Heroes.

Chats
If you situation allows, try to respond to all questions and requests in guild chat. A response allows someone to plan their activities better than silence. Of course, don't put your toon in a life-threatening situation to speak in guild chat!
Keep in mind that people may not be in a position to respond immediately to guild chat requests and don't take it personally.
If you only see yourself talking in guild, and no one seems to respond: try sending a private message to someone. Guild chat occasionally becomes bugged.

If you don’t see a DH character online of the proper class or level, state what you need. Everyone has an alt, and they may be waiting for something to get started. If you are waiting for a group to form, let people know. People pop in and out so whenever someone new logs in, mention again that you’re interested in grouping.

Custom chat channels we use are
DHGrouping: This channel has been created for the express use of other guilds to ask DH members to group with them. If you use this channel please remember you are doing so as a representative of Disposable Heroes. Please conduct yourself in a fair manner when doing so. Please also respect the other guilds and their decisions in this channel. It is a great resource but will only stay such by keeping it clean and honest. (THIS IS TO BE USED FOR GROUPING ONLY!) *channel to be created upon approval of charter with this provision in it*

Raid Loot
As of module 5 (September 07), every member of a raid has a 16% - 25% chance to spawn a piece of raid loot when looting the end chest. If an item is spawned, this guild considers that player the owner of that item.

Being the owner of the item entitles them to do whatever they like with the item (be that: keep, give away, or trade with another raid-item winner).

Note: The most common method of giving away raid loot you don't need is to allow everyone interested in the item to "/roll" on it. Highest roll wins the item.

Note: When trading, we prefer that items earned outside of the raid not be considered. We encourage trading one piece of raid loot for another, but allowing "outside" items throws off fairness and generally takes a very long time to complete.

Website
The website is pretty big, with many different ways to get your message across.
The Forums are the primary means of communication. Be it a major event, the joke of the day, or something you want to get off your chest, pretty much anything goes here.
The Shout Box (bottom left) is primarily just for casual communication. If you really want a response, don't use the Shout Box.
The Calendar is useful for events. Every event should also be posted in the Forums somewhere as well (to keep one central place with all information).

Exploiting
"The 'short' definition of exploit is: When you try to make a bug happen on purpose to get something out of it.
...
If you feel wrong about something, then don't do it. That's up to you. If you are doing something that turns out to be wrong ... GMs [will] investigate the situation."
-KommunityKobold (Turbine Community Team)

Unfortunately, this definition is subjective and allows one person's "exploit" to be another's "tactic", so conflict can very easily occur. It is this conflict that we want to avoid.
Exploits are NOT an issue for members to argue over, and such arguments are considered contrary to the ideals of "Fun" and "Low Drama".

Disciplinary Action
All disciplinary actions in this guild are to be finalized through a tribunal of the Guild Leader, the Guild Successor and the Sergeant At Arms. If any conduct is found in violation of the charter then a meeting will be called of these three officers and the offending member. The Sergeant At Arms will preside over the meeting with the case against said member being presented and then the member being given a chance to defend their actions.

If the Tribunal of the guild determines you have violated this charter after the aforementioned meeting as to warrant disciplinary action you will be given the following in order:

1) verbal warning - This warning will be do*****ented for the officers but no actions will be taken.
2) written warning - This will take the form of a FORMAL Post in the officer section of the forums completely detailing the issue and the plan of action for resolving said issues.
3) Probation - 30 days of probation with cause for dismissal if you are found in violation during said 30 days. If you step back into the probation period within 30 days of being stepped back you can have a longer probation assigned.
4) Expulsion - This is last option if you have made it this far we presume you don't want to follow the charter and you are hereby removed from the guild.

Any member in the disciplinary process will be moved back one step by being deemed to be following the charter for a period of 30 days.

Officership:

Promotion Considerations
Officer status in DH is not about prestige or long membership, it is about giving time and energy to the guild as a whole.

Members wishing to be officers must first show leadership, maturity, and a willingness to be responsible. The best candidates are those who are already doing such things, without being asked.

Officer Duties
Overall, the main duty of an officer is to be an example of the ideals in the Mission Statement above. An officer is charged with keeping the guild fun, helpful, skilled, and low drama.

Mechanically speaking, an officer can:
1. Recruit or remove guild members.
2. Edit the Message of the Day (MotD).
3. Speak in officer chat & use the officer forum.
4. Moderate the DH forums.

Member Recruiting:
Follow the standards listed in the Charter.
New members should be pointed to the website and asked to use it for communications that are not of a must have now type, Item Requests and Build Discussion are great examples of things that would probably be better done outside of game if possible.
New members will be coached by the officers if they are deemed to be not abiding by guild policies
Each new recruit will be assigned an officer to act as their liason to the guild

Member Removal: Should only be used in drastic situations. Usually it causes more problems than it solves. If recruiting is handled properly, forced removals should be rare

Officer roles:

Quartermaster: The guild quartermaster will hold items that you do not wish to sell and feel that others can possibly use. This person will post said items in the DH Bank on this site which will allow others to request them. Once an Item is requested the Quartermaster will mail or give said member the item within a week. Got some plat you don’t feel like keeping but don’t feel like giving to just anyone. Give it to the guild quartermaster who will keep a stock of platinum for guild events. This money will be used to buy supplies for raids or prizes for guild sponsored events. Also we are looking into the possibility of offering loans to members who run low on plat for a small fee due upon repaying the loan.

Event Coordinator: This person will help create social events for members to get to know each other in game. These may be or may not be questing events. Good examples are raid flagging weekends, award ceremonies, fun quest idea, and quest speed to complete competitions. We will strive for one event a month but some months it will not be feasible.

Raid Coordinator: The raid coordinator will schedule raids, fill the party (DH and non DH alike) and also lead the raid. (If they don’t know the raid they can pass leadership but preferably they will lead the raid) If a raid is deemed to be resource intensive the Raid Coordinator can contact the quartermaster either beforehand or afterwards to get some money or supplies that can be used to help defer the cost to people who run the raid (DH member or not, clerics I’m looking at you!). This judgment is done by the raid coordinator or guild officers present.

Sergeant at Arms: This lucky person will assist the guild leader and successor with disciplinary actions in the guild. They will call meetings or moderate forum discussions on all disciplinary actions not brought about by the leader. They will be the one who calls the meeting for review of any member placed on probation for disciplinary reasons. They will also keep a log of all who are expelled from DH.

Recruiting Coodinator: This is the officer who will head the recruiting for Disposable Heroes. They will keep a log of the join date and review dates of all new recruits if a recruit is deemed to be an issue they will call the meeting of officers or moderate the discussion on the forums. This person will update the Sergeant at Arms of anyone who has been expelled during their first 90 days for any reason.
